Is there anything cheaper than CDxtract that will convert a SoundFont
file to ESX 24 for Logic?

Seems kinda silly that the SoundFont bundles go for $14.95 and the
converter is $139.00

Kinda like...the car is free, but the tires are gonna cost you.

Doesn't the EXS itself provide native soundfont-to-exs conversion?
I'm quite sure it does -- I _do_ have some converted soundfonts and
don't have any of the translators.

Yes.

J. Lee - To import soundfonts - just put the SF2 files in your sample
instruments folder.

When you select that file in the EXS24's instrument window it performs the
conversion. The converter utility puts the exs instrument definition files in
the "Sampler Instruments" folder and puts the extracted audio files in the
"DLS-Giga" folder.

Murray

Minor point, but I think it actually creates a "SoundFonts Samples" folder.

Sorry I was away from my Logic machine - of course you are correct. Only Gig
samples are in DLS-Giga.

Thanks for all the replies about this. I can purchase SoundFont with
confidence now. What a great list.
