multi EXS

multi EXS

2004-04-05 by Doug Michael

Hello,
I'm trying to have one EXS24 instrument trigger 5 or 6 different
EXS24 patches and was wondering how to do this? I tried using the
channel splitter - I assigned the channel splitter to several EXS24's
(I did not use Sum). I then selected the Channel Splitter in the
Arrange window and was hoping that when record enabling the track I
would be able to play the multiple EXS24's, but...... only track 1
played. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a better way to do this?
I can always just copy and paste all the different patches audio files
into one EXS24 sampler patch but that seems time consuming and if I
what to change patches......
    Thanks,
  Doug Michael

If you're on a dual processor Mac, the following will work:

Create a dummy instrument and cable to all the EXS instances you want to
layer together. Put an I/O plugin on each EXS instrument. Set the input and
output parameters within each of the I/O plugins, then mute them. Now use
your dummy instrument in the arrange window as your track instrument and it
should work.

If you're not on a dual processor Mac, I think you are SOL :-(

[EXS] Inconsistent instrument loading

2004-06-05 by Sean McCoy

I'm having consistent inconsistency (!) with EXS instruments loading
properly when a song is opened. Larger instruments seem to be more
problematic, but I haven't detected any recognizable pattern. The
instruments always appear to be there, but some or all will not play, and I
have to clear the bad EXS instances with "no instrument" and re-load them.
This makes the creation of templates kind of useless.

Has anybody else seen this? Will this go away when I finally get a new G5
and start running OSX and EXS Manager?

I had/have the same problem here with a G4 dual 1.25,OS 9.2.2.
I have two firewire HDs with my EXS Instruments/samples connected.
The one I´ve already scanned in "Project Manager" works perfect again (takes
a lot of time!!!)
