Keyswitch instruments

A couple of weeks ago, I posted the following instructions for creating keyswitch instruments. Someone on the VSL forum pointed out that you actually don't need to create a new group (step 2, and the first part of step 7) - the existing ones are carried over for the instrument you paste in. The management regrets any inconvenience this may have caused in the universe. 1. Open the EXS24 Instrument Editor (under the Audio menu) and create a new instrument. Save this as, say, Vlns short/pizz kyswtch. 2. Create a new group (option/command G, or New Group under the Group menu) 3. Load the pizz and short vln, and click on the Edit buttons in both EXSs (upper right corner) to open both their edit windows. 4. Go to the pizz vlns edit window, select all, and copy. 5. Paste everything into your Vlns short/pizz kyswtch edit window. 6. Where it says Select By in the little Group panel, choose Note and specify which note you want to use to call up pizz vlns. 7. Create a new group for the short vlns, copy and paste them in, and select a different keyswitch note for them. Save. You can build larger keyswitches if you want - just keep going. If you want to set up two groups of keyswitches in one Uberprogram, say one set with the mod wheel up and another one with it down, add a second condition in step #6. A new box is created automatically when you tell it to select by Note, so you could specify cc#1 (mod wheel) between 0 - 64 for one set of keyswitches and 65 - 127 for another. -- Nick Batzdorf 818/905-9101, cell 590-9101, fax 905-5434
