OK, here's how I do it (and personally I found this to be the most convenient thing so far): Method 1) - Put your REX2 files into some appropriate directory (such as "drive/samples/ReCyle Files" or so). Keep them there, you will need them later on as well. Create substructures if you like. - Create a shortcut to this folder in your "sampler instruments" directory. That way the EXS will be able to see your REX files. - In the song of your choice (or maybe even in your Autoload) set the above created directory as the path for recycled audio (audio record path menu). - Go to your arrangement, select the pen tool and press shift (Macs might use another modifier) on an audio track. - Head over to the ReCycle Files directory and select whichever you like. The file will now play in your currently opened song tempo! - Remember the loop as soon as you're happy with your choice, then press "Cancel". - Open it in the EXS, from your instrument menu (no need to open the editor at all). - Extract MIDI file. - Done. This IMO is the best method to handle general recycled loops. Method 2) - In your song folder, create a subfolder called "sampler instruments". - Put your recycled files there. - Set the preferences for REX import (audio record path menu) to "song folder". - Prelisten as mentioned above, if required. - Import, using the EXS\ufffd file selector. This IMO is the best method to handle songbased recycled loops. Btw, a HUGE shortcoming of Logic/Mac: On Windows you can keep the EXS UI opened while searching for proper recycled files (using the pencil tool as mentioned above). As soon as I find something pleasant I just load the REX file into the EXS WITHOUT ever closing the audio import menu. On Macs that's still impossible. Well, just so much about the superior music production platform... (sorry, but I couldn't resist). Regards, Sascha
