Hollowsun patches V1.0 (beta, I guess)

Hollowsun patches V1.0 (beta, I guess)

2004-06-02 by Sascha Franck

Allright, I finished the first bunch of patches for the Hollowsound samples.
You can find them here:
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/ElkaSynthex.zip
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/EnsoniqSQ80.zip
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/KawaiK5000.zip
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/KorgTrident.zip
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/KorgX5DR.zip
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/hollowsun/Minimoog.zip

Some things to mention, please read:

Of course those patches don't contain the samples, so you need to get them
either at
http://www.hollowsun.com/vintage/index.html
or at
http://www.hollowsun.com/donations/index.html
I tried to name the EXS files conveniently, so finding the appropriate
samples should be no big problem. The Hollowsun site is rather fast as well,
so if you're on DSL or better, things should just work nicely.

You will find a lot of patches labelled "Synth XYZ basic". All these patches
are "raw" mappings, using no UI settings. As a result of this, they will
"copy" any UI setting of a previously loaded patch to them.
To listen to the patches in "raw" mode you should select "Load default EXS
settings" from the options pulldown. The advance in this is that you can
actually apply the UI settings of your favourite EXS sounds to them, just
load the "source" patch, then the "Synth XYZ basic" one and save under any
appropriate name (or as a plugin setting, whatever you prefer).
Then there's some patches labelled "Synth XYZ 01". These are patches with
applied UI settings (= written into the EXS file). As I am still mainly a
guitar player I'm not sure whether they suit your tastes, but well... in
almost all of those "01" patches the filter is switched off, but for some of
them I used the router to do some modulations adressing the filter, so you
might want to try to switch the filter on and eventually fool around with
your ModWheel.
Further, the non-basic patches won't be compatible to EXSP or EXS versions
older than 5.3. In that case I reccomend using the "basic" patches (which
will load fine), apply some UI settings and do a "save as".

Just so much for now, I hope some of you folks like these patches, I will
certainly find myself using them pretty often.
More patches to follow any day soon, I'll keep you informed.

Cheers,
Sascha

I spent some time this morning converting a few, I can probably put
them on my website, or email them to you.

Maybe we should all coordinate our efforts? Here are the instruments I
did:
RMI Electrapiano
Roland VP330
Acetone Rhythm Ace

Would've done more, but I started writing a tune using the the Rhythm
Ace patch, and got distracted :-)

Please do. I think some place where everybody would be able to get them
would be the best idea.

Not sure whether I will find the time to properly convert any more patches.
But yes, it'd make no sense to double-convert those.

Sascha

As I said, I'm happy to put them up on a page...
Yahoo is a good idea, but not everybody can log in.

Would it be an idea if I hosted the patches on the Omega Art site?
The site is rather well-known amongst Logic users because of the FAQ
and the environments, so it might be a logical (uhm) place. Of
course all the patches would be credited with the names of the
respective authors/convertors.

Hollowsun indeed is a cool site btw...

Up to you, I've got the page ready to go up later tonight but if you want to do it, go for it.

[EXS] Hollowsun patches

2004-06-03 by Hendrik Jan Veenstra

Okay, if nobody (in particluar Sascha at this point in time :)
objects: I put Sascha's converted vintage synths up at the Omega Art
site, at
http://www.omega-art.com/logic/index.html#laexs

And yes, I know this page is getting way too long, and I should split
it up in maybe 4 pages (tutorials, environments, exs, faq). I will,
later, when I have a bit more time...

If others decide to take the time to convert some hollow-sun
instruments, you can send the zipped EXS instruments to me directly
and I'll add them to the page. David: if you want you can send me
the stuff you already did...

Yes indeed! If we like or benefit from a site/work we should support by
donation. The smallest donations not only add up, they also encourage!

Ditto!
