[EXS] Error message and thanks

[EXS] Error message and thanks

2004-06-04 by Lenny Stearns

Hi!

Here's any easy question from an EXS beginner. Does the error
message, "not enough memory to load all samples of instrument..."
refer to the amount of memory allocated to Logic in the Get Info
window, or does it refer to the total amount of RAM available to it
in the Mac? I'm trying to load the ns7-kit-free and getting this
error. I have 128M allocated to Logic, and have 256K total on the
Mac.

Oh, and special thanks to Sascha for his efforts, and to the folks
who brought Hollow Sun to this list's attention - great stuff!!
Wishful thinking: Could someone convert the Mellotron samples next?

Regards,
Lenny

It refers to the total amount of memory left (after Logic) that is available
for loading samples into. Switch on the virtual memory (disc streaming)
option under the local option menu on the EXS interface and you should be
okay.

FTR, if anyone is doing any preference trashing, as I did recently; the
virtual memory defaults to being set to off after fresh prefs are rebuilt.

Found it! I hadn't stumbled across that particular menu yet (I just
started using the EXS after upgrading to Logic Pro), and it answers
some other questions I had as well. Thanks for the tip! Otherwise,
I was going to shell out more cash for RAM.
