Has anyone used Gary Garritan's Gigaharp with the EXS? Or is there
some other terrific orchestral harp library out there?

thanks
Julie

I use the Prosonus - Orchestra Harp... A part of the orchestra CD - wich
is not throughou perfect, but there are some very nice patches... As the
harp, for instance.

I don't know though, if You still can buy it... : /

Yes, it's very good. There are other good harps included in
orchestral packages - VSL and EWQLSO - but Gary's is the best
stand-alone one I know of.

We have a new harp in EXS format. Here is a demo from it. It has a bunch of "room"
samples from the session which were used in this demo.

http://www.dssoundware.com/demos/Harp1.mp3

This is the only stand alone "full sized" harp that I am aware of. The other one is a smaller
harp with a totally different sound.

Thanks!

Donnie

Hey thanks Donnie,
can you give me a little more info..the description on line was pretty
brief. How many velocity layers are there? When you speak of the
"other one" are you referring to Gigaharp?

thanks,
julie

I should have said that GigaHarp was the *only* stand-alone harp I
know of! Sorry about that.

Hi group,

VSL is about to release its new Horizon series including a dedicated
Harp edition featuring two full ranged Harps with a motherload of
articulations *very* soon.

Check it out at http://www.vsl.co.at/

And yes, I have to admit I work for them...

Best regards

Marnix

PS: Hi Nick, I hope you are fine - liebe Gruesse!...;-)

Ja, danke, und liebe Grusse zu dich!

This proves that one should never listen to men named Batzdorf (aside
from my relatives). There are probably three other harp libs in the
woodwork I don't know about.

VSL's harp is really good, and it has a good collection of sampled
glisses in various tempos, directions, etc., along with harmonics,
and on and on.

sound libraries

2004-06-11 by gary pozner

Just finished an independent film where the score was basically marimba,
vibes, viola, and acoustic bass. After we recorded the films open live,
the filmmaker made so many changes that the rest of the film was
orchestrated with all samples. I utilized the VSL Mallet library(Really
sounds amazing and fun to play), Kirk Hunter solo strings(again amazing
sounds and very playable). Due to the excellent sampling and
programming the sampled pieces no one can tell that it wasn't all done
live. And no, I don't work for either company.
