Here's some additional info:
If you're using Logic Pro (and it sounds like that...) you allready have the
EXS. So why not give it a try until it doesn't fulfill your needs anymore?

I'll only halfway answer the other questions because I don't own Mach 5.

> 1. Which 1 has "ROCK SOLID", reliable performance with LOgic Audio Pro?

Undoubtedly: The EXS. Almost any third party plugins have a potential to
crash Logic at one time while none of the internal ones ever crashed Logic
over here.

> 2. Which has the best polphony?

No idea about the Mach 5, but I heard it's rather CPU intensive while this
is one of the serious strengths of the EXS: It's VERY efficient.

> 3. Which1 crashes least?

See 1.

> 4. Which 1 has the best continued, regular updates and improvements?

While the EXS had some minor changes (well ok, the "new" routing options and
filters are nice, but they're 2 years old allready...), very essential
things haven't been fixed or updated since day one. Sample management and
patch editing capabilities are still nothing else but a bad joke. So,
regarding that the EXS is an absolute loser, it just couldn't be worse.

> 6. Which 1 has the best user interface?

Once you got your patches ready I find the EXS to be a better choice than
Kontakt and HALion, but I don't know about Mach 5 (which seems to be VERY
powerful). In case you wanted to do a lot of patches by yourself the EXS
editor is some sort of a nightmare as it lacks a whole few of the most
important features all the others just have.

> 7. Which 1 is easiest to learn & use.

Personally I think the EXS is easy to learn but hard to use (due to the
mentioned serious shortcomings).
