Does anyone know if the newly released EXSP24 v1.1 AudioUnit plug-in allows for disk
streaming? If anyone is using this plug-in, inside Digital Performer for instance, can you
check and see, and test if a disk streaming option is available?

[EXS] Ugly note bursts

2004-08-19 by Sean McCoy

I was hoping this was a relic of my old, underpowered system, but is still
there with my new G5 setup as well. Is there any way to eliminate the loud,
obnoxious bursts of notes that happen when playback is started--but without
giving up note-chasing? This is a particular problem on piano tracks, where
many notes are often sustaining and are chased with sharp attacks. Everyone
can't just be living with this during sessions. What am I missing? Any help
appreciated.

I haven't looked at the "Chase Events" window lately, but does it give
you the option of not chasing CC64?

Also, I find that particular problem is worse with unquantized tracks.

HTH.

Your not missing anything.
Think about it: Either you want note events to be chased (in that case the
sustained notes just have to start along with the ones starting in place) or
you don't.
To play sustained/chased note at a level which would be reached by a natural
decay XYZ seconds after they started would mean that Logic had to know which
module you were using and then automatically adjust the velocity of the
chased notes following this information. Almost impossible IMO.

Sascha

You're right, Sacha. Somewhat of a physical impossibility, isn't it? Since
I do a lot of work using piano tracks as the basis, I think Sebastian's
suggestion of freezing them makes the most sense. I'll make this part of my
routine from now on. Thanks,

Sean
