OT: mp3 encoder

OT: mp3 encoder

2004-09-02 by Micke Nilsson

Hello, please excuse this off topic question. I'm on os x and have this
co-writer friend, who's still using 9.2. When I send him an mp3(created in
iTunes) of something we're working on, he can't play it. If anyone can
suggest an encoder that might work, I'd appreciate it. Thanx. mn

Maybe I'm a little out of touch, but aren't mp3s just mp3s?  I don't
think this is an operating system incompatibility. Shouldn't iTunes
in 9.2 play mp3s created in iTunes in X? Did you encode them as AACs
instead by accident?

Check your encoding settings. Try sending him a straight (i.e.,
non-variable bit-rate) 128K encoded mp3 and see if he can play it.

Make sure your song has the .mp3 suffix attached

Mysong = no
Mysong.mp3 = yes

Otherwise it might be getting screwed up when sent thru email....

I really like Amadeus II, which is a two-track editor with great
sonograms and it also seems to compress to MP3 very nicely as well.
(Especially at very low bitrates for voice.)

It's shareware.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
