EXS24 not so swell in Logic Pro 7

EXS24 not so swell in Logic Pro 7

2004-10-08 by duminakken

Just got my L7 today – excited to get it installed.
What a bummer!!!!
Logic 7 doesn't load half of my Sampler Instruments. They show up in the EXS's finder, but
clicking on them nothing happens.
I can load them in the sample editor, it finds the associated samples and everything,so
nothing's missing, but can't load them straight into the EXS.
Same thing goes for the supplied Garage Band Sampler Intruments – none of those will
load. Again checking in the sample editor everything's there. Apple Loops load fine.
Sh...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I went back to Pro 6 to get on with my work – turns out now I can't load those
Sampler Instruments in 6 either – they were working fine before installing 7.

I tried working it out via Project Manager, did a Repair Permissions, and nothing helps.

I'm ready to send this upgrade right back.

The answer is very simple: the upgrade installed you more new Exs/Gb
instruments, and summed to the ones you were using, you reached the
critical number after which Exs won't load any more.
Take away some unused Exs instrument and everything will work again...

Andrea, may I ask what that critical number is?

Best,

Should be at around 30000 instruments....

Well - the answer is not that simple. Been on tech support 3 times,
tried removing sampler instruments folders etc. and it has nothing
to do with the number of files. The tech support guys were scratching
their head. According to them the max. count is a little over 32.000.
But as I said - that doesn't seem to be the problem I have.

Then I bet the actual total is 32767, the exponential number for a signed
"short integer." Maybe a little less to make room for the amount of folders
and the other extra menu items they add.
