What exactly is this "Old Lady"? I gather that it is a multi-sampled piano, but what makes it so great (and why is it called that)? - Lenny >"Old Lady" for EXS is now down to $100.... 50% off. All in all, very nice if you do any serious piano work in recording and don't have access to a Steinway or 290. FYI, the list is $200 normally, it's down to $100 which is a deal for that level of quality. /Reid

Just wondered if the Old Lady is available as a "multiformat" or whether the other instrument definitions are available as a download - Exs24, Kontakt, and Halion instrument definitions are all small files separate from the samples. Many sample vendors operate this way - Giga versions and Multiformat. I ask because I would like to use this Piano set in both Exs24 and Kontakt. Regards, Murray

Murray, For that sort of info, may I suggest that you ask the developer directly in the following forum. His name is Michiel Post, and you'll find him to be very reponsive. The url is: http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26687 Regards, -Mark: --- In exs-users@yahoogroups.com, Murray McDowall <murraymc@m...> wrote: > Just wondered if the Old Lady is available as a "multiformat" or whether > the other instrument definitions are available as a download - Exs24, > Kontakt, and Halion instrument definitions are all small files separate > from the samples. I'm slightly concerned about the EXS being the only format that doesn't support 24 bit and I doubt I'm the only one. I don't mind asking him. What would he have to do, join the list or is there a way to bypass this? I suppose I could forward what he has to say to the list and tell him I'll do that. Andris

Michael Post advised me by email that the Kontakt and Halion instrument definitions will be downloadable from his site once I have the EXS24 version. Re 16 vs 24 bits - the following is a paste from the Old Lady Product page: http://www.postpiano.com/products/prod_iteminfo.php?id=147&subCat=OLD+LADY Special features for GigaStudio 3: Body resonance for reproduction of the true body resonance upon sustain pedal use, Hall resonance, true re-pedalling, sustain pedal triggered pedal noise etc. Available formats: Kontakt 1.5, Giga 2** are shipping now with 16 bits samples, HALION is shipping with 24 bits samples. Giga 3 / EXS 24 bits versions will start shipping soon. So is the 24 bit EXS version the one that will be shipped to the group buy subscribers? Regards, Murray

Otherwise it's just hearsay... Andris, If that's the case, then go read it for yourself, and ask questions if you'd like. Didn't someone write that the EXS instrument is now also 24 bit. But are we getting the 24 bit, that´s what I want to know. I have ordered but if it's just a case of waiting a little longer I'd rather wait and get the 24 bit than have a 16 bit version early December. Guys, don't you actually *read* anything from this list? If you would just go to the developer's link that I provided earlier today you'd know all of the following: 1) The 24 bit / EXS problem has been completely fixed. Everyone will be shipped the 24 bit version only. 2) There are currently 73 people signed up, and as soon as they receive order #81, they will begin shipping out the 24 bit cd's to everyone immediately. They won't wait until the end date. So you'll get the 24 bit version, and you'll get it much sooner than anticipated. It's a beautiful thing. -Mark

But when I looked at the info I saw no mention of shipping as soon as 81 orders were recieved. Where did Mark see this? JP

I'll be very happy to receive my order, I've never had a good piano before, only ones that were allright (Kurzweil K2000, Unity Black & Whites). Andris

I had a phone call today asking for a good online resource for the EXS-24 sampler. I told the guy "well, there's this exs-24 yahoo group, but it seems they're a bunch of old ladies." =) ---------------------------------------------------------- Garth Hjelte See ALL NEW Squirrel and Alysia pictures at www.chickensys.com/squirrel Updated March 18th, 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------
