Good question, and a common one. See the FAQ listed above - it has the
answer to your question, plus a bunch of stuff that is likely to help you
with other things too.

Hi Garth,
where exactly in this FAQ is the answer to this problem?
There seems to be no reference to this in the EXS section.

In system 9, you could take out (of the extension folder) audio driver
and than use the CD as if it had only Akai data. I'm not sure about
OSX, but if all else fails, you can make an image file (with Toast) of
just the Akai portion of the CD and burn a new CD that will be plain
(Akai) data CD, without audio. New CD won't be a mixed mode CD, so
you'll have no problems.

Have the same problem here also... have just purchased two new mixed
AKAI CD roms and not able open sample files (using CDXtract) due to
audio part on the same CD only recognized in browser!

Using Logic Pro 6.4 - OS 9.2

Paul.

Here it is. A handy idea when dealing with long pages is to use the FIND
function of your browser (with IE there is one). I just did a FIND on the
word "Mixed"

logicfaq.omega-art.com/html/faq18.htm#15

Here it is reprinted.

In OS9: You need to use the 1.3 Apple CD/DVD driver. Newer versions see the
audio and don't report the rest of the CD.
You can get the 1.3 version at
www.chickensys.com/translator/download#AppleCD. Put it into your Extensions
folder, enable it in the Extensions Manager, disable the old one, restart,
and the EXS should now see the CD. Don't use the 1.3 version for daily use;
the 1.4 version is more stable and reliable, so if you're done importing,
disable 1.3 again and enable 1.4.

The support page of the Tima and space site has some help about this:

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
