I'm stumped

I'm stumped

2004-12-17 by Reid

I've added memory now @ 3Gig, got a fast processor @ 2.8ghz,
multiple SATA drives, yet when I go to load the Old Lady (even 16
bit) I'm told it can't load all the samples...

What am I missing? I've shelled out $80 for something I can't even
fully utilize in our studio and it's driving me nuts as the
keys/combinations that do load are marvelous.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running LA 5.5.1 (pc)
3 Gig memory
2.8 Ghz P4
2 160Gig Sata drives

Thanks, Reid

Is EXS virtual memory enabled?

Best,

Andy

I managed to get all the samples working fine on my G5 dual; Logic Pro
7;
but as far as I remember, I had to change the permissions on some
folders.
The install guided me, and required me to type un my master password a
few times.

Be sure to put the .exs files in the right place.
You may need to run EXSManager to get all the samples linked up
correctly and quickly
I put a back up of everything onto my 500Gig outboard hard drive, for
safety.

I hope this helps.

LAW seems to have a few issues with large amounts of RAM but you should be able
to play Old Lady with EXS24 sample streaming switched on - I certainly can. In
Emagic's terminology it is called Virtual Memory and you enable it in the
options for EXS24 which are accessible from the sampler GUI.

Murray

YOu're absolutely right...and I'm a little miffed at my own
stupidity!

My EXS isn't valid (i.e. it's expired and demo at that) and tried to
run it in EXSP24 only to find that the VMM won't be of use. I can
get the 16 bit partially loaded...but it's obvious that a lot of the
velocity layers are missing.

So, my next logical step is to get an updated EXS24...I've scanned
ebay, the web and more and can't seem to find any for sale (bear
inmind I'm running 5.5.1 on Windows). I do find in the ads and
product descriptions that EXS24MkII is supported by 5.x and beyond,
so as long as I can find one on a Multi-format CD with Authorization
(!) I'll be good to go.

Any pointers to sites with a fair price would be appreciated...I'd
even consider a private buy via PayPal with ownership transfer
please!! ;-)
