Panning broken?

Panning broken?

2005-01-20 by Hans Hafner

Hi there,

Can you guys please check this file:

http://www.parasitenews.com/logic_stuff/logic_stuff.html

The panning as it is set right now does not do what I would expect it
to do. Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe I'm expecting the wrong thing.

Seeing how much I complained on the other group I wanna keep it
positive and about the facts. So I've decided to put up a page that
collects specific problems to illustrate them.

Cheers
Hans

Should there be an EXS instrument in the zip file? There was only a
logic song with no exs.

There doesn't need to be, just listen to the sine wave produced when
you hit a note.

Sorry for being unclear. Thanks for checking.

Cheers
Hans

Nothing happens when I hit a note, there is no EXS instrument!

But there is an EXS instantiatedn AudiInst 001, right? Did you look
in the environment in Clicks & Ports? Maybe my keyboard is on a
different port than yours. Sorry, should have fixed that and put the
sum of MIDI to the sequencer.

It doesn't need an instrument to test this. A blank EXS will produce
a sine wave. Maybe you have to hit play once?

You can also just do this:

Open an EXS

Set the third "target" in the router to "pan"
set the source to "LFO 1"
set LFO 1 to "1" and pulse
move the little trianlge next to the router all the way up or down.

play a note.

You will hear that one channel will stay loud and the other and the
other do as expected (be on and off.

I just tried it again in a new song... same result.

Please, someone confirm this.

Cheers
Hans

Still not quite sure what you mean, especially by

Alright, I have now uploaded a preset file to this address again.

http://www.parasitenews.com/logic_stuff/logic_stuff.html

open it from the settings triangle of the EXS. You have to use the
stereo version of the EXS obviously.

It will _not_ contain a sample and doesn't need to as an empty EXS
will produce a sine wave and it's enough to check what I'm talking
about.

The panning doesn't do what it should, or maybe I'm expecting
something else, but what it does doesn't make any sense.

Cheers and thanks for taking the time to confirm this.

Anybody tried this yet?

Panning works for triangle wave only
