Free, gentle seashore sounds?

Free, gentle seashore sounds?

2005-02-16 by sleazyjoeblob

Hi,

Does anyone know where I might find a gentle, hypnotic seashore sound? preferably for
free but I'd be prepared to pay a small amount for it.

Cheers,

A.

Do you still need these? I just found some nice stuff on DAT but it will
take a couple of days to get round to sampling it, I'll do it if you
still need it. I was going to get round to it it sometime anyway but if
its useful I'll do it sooner rather than later

Can I have them, too? Could you, please, let us know when you upload them? I for one can wait as long as it takes until you have a free minute to sample them. Thanks in advance.

Best,

Andy

Hi,

Firstly, thanks for the offers via email from a few contributers, I don't check my mail often
so didn't realise you'd mailed me off-list.

I already have a few clips but won't know if they're any use until i begin work next week.
I'm putting together a therapeutic/hypnosis CD for a client and the only brief I've had so
far is to find some seashore sounds to lay in behind his spoken words, he particularly
wanted the high frequency sound which ripples across the beach as the wave recedes.

More later, if I recover from the deep trance of listening too many times!

Cheers,

A.

This is an important, ambient issue and as I have stated, I've spent some
time tweaking the Apple files with Logic's plug-ins and with some
astonishing results...
If you are still not satisfied, check this:

http://homepage.mac.com/katsura/shareware.html#OCWV

Besides doing hypnotic cd's, which in my opinion is an important issue,
die to the dayly distortion of our fellow's brains...

You might want to take a look at this:

http://www.beelinetv.com/

Take a pair of headphones and listen to to the sounds behind the news,
how it is done, how it is spread around the stereo field or even 5.1?

There' some money folks

I've uploaded a short version to:

http://www.petethomas.co.uk/logic-exs24-samples.html

This is Apple lossless conversion of 44.1/16 aif file. The whole
recording is about 67 MB. If anyone wants the whole thing I can upload
it Apple lossless will cut it down to about 60% of that or else I can do
an mp3

I'd gladly take it if you ever made it available in Apple lossless.

Best,

Andy

It's uploaded, about 33MB.

I moved it from the free stuff to the donate stuff which I think is
reasonable in'it?

It's quite nice stereo, like the mics were perpendicular to the
shoreline so the waves go from left to right.

Perfect! One of the most realistic ambiances I've ever heard. Thanks so much again, Pete!

Yeah, I definitely owe you a CD with my production featuring the sound, of course if you care to listen :-) . BTW, where was it recorded? Somewhere in UK, I suppose?

Andy

Is there any way I'd be able to read (= decompress) this file on a PC?

Sascha

iTunes is available for both platforms. Don't know if it can handle it on PC, but it's the only way AFAIK.

iTunes for Windows might do this.

I've just put a (hopefully) high quality mp3 up there as well, that
should do it.

Just did it with iTunes "convert to Wav" function.

Hi Pete,

This forum is new to me and the ambient sound of the ocean is wonderful!
When I clicked on it to download, it open up a page of giberish on my
computer. Is there a recomended way to download this file? I am on OS 10.3

Thank you so much for this wonderful work.

You either need to tell your browser not to open but download certain filetypes (wouldn't happen to know how to do that on whatever
Mac browser) or option-click the link and then choose "save target/link as".

Control-click that is.

Only downloaded the MP3, Pete - but I've got to say that this is a very nice sound!
Maybe I should try finding some proper looppoints and make an EXS patch out of it.

Many thanks!

Yes, I think it will loop very nicely, probably on a pebbly bit.

There are thousands of free sounds including seashore sounds here:

In fact, I recorded or made almost all of them. Though they are fairly low res at 8/22, but small in size.
