Channel strip TIP

2008-01-10 by Colin Shapiro

Hi folks,

I just discovered something interesting in Logic 8:
Go to the Channel strip pop-up menu in the Mixer and select something
from one of the Jam Packs
eg : Jam Pack World Music / Mallets / African Marimba
The Garageband instrument [Tuned Percussion] opens up with this sound.

Now, click on the Instrument slot and choose EXS24 instead of Tuned Percussion
EXS24 opens ...... with the African Marimba already loaded!!

Nice, if you want to take the sound further, edit, etc etc.

Regards - Colin

Yes, those GarageBand instruments are actually EXS24s in sheep's
clothing.

Yes, but they do not always sound identical as the EXS24 has some filters etc. that the Garageband version does not.

You're quite right - but you have the option to choose. For more
"editability", EXS24 is generally far more powerful.
