Questions about sample CDs

2005-03-30 by sc@rowatworks.com

Hi,

I'm considering making my first purchase of EXS-24 format CDs of acoustic
samples. For those who have gone there already, I have a couple of
questions....

1. Can I expect that the samples in sample CDs like, say, the ProSamples
series (which lists 5-7 formats, including EXS-24), will come with EXS-24
instruments already configured? Or will I have to fumble with the zones
myself?

2. I'm finding the ProSamples advertising relatively persuasive, and am
considering getting their 'Rare Ethnic Vol 31' and 'Orchestral Brass Vol
20'. If anyone has these or others in the series and can offer comments, or
can point me at other good sample CDs of acoustic instruments that they've
used, I'd appreciate it.

thanks

Hi Steven,

My experience with the ProSamples sample sets has been great - I own
8 or 9 sets and have also purchased several of the full sample sets
from which the ProSamples line is derived. They are always top
quality and I have never had any compatibility issues. Follow the
instructions for loading the files and you will be good to go! The
offerings in the ProSamples line are choice excerpts taken from full
sample sets put out by East/West and others. I'm pretty sure you
will be very happy with anything you purchase in the ProSamples line.

Good luck! John F.
