Logic Gold is it possible to upgrade player to full version EXS24 mkII

Logic Gold is it possible to upgrade player to full version EXS24 mkII

2005-04-18 by davidbulog

Logic Gold Production Kit includes Logic Gold 5 for PC and Logic Gold 6
and of course EXSP24 (the sample player)
Looking at Emagics support site I can download these updated versions
Logic Gold 6.3.1 for Mac (OS X or classic) and to Logic Gold 5.5.1 for
Windows at emagics website.

There is a note that says Interested Logic 5/6 users can check out
the great features of the EXS24 mkII by activating the demo period
using the XSKey authorization window.

My question is how on Earth do I upgrade EXSP24(the sample player) to
the full EXS24 Sampler?
Please dont tell my me I have to buy Logic Platimum or Logic Pro 5 & 6

Thanks in advance
Dave

If you use Mac OS X, read on. If you use Windows or Mac OS 9, I think you
might be stuck since Apple does not support those any more for Logic.

You can upgrade to Logic Pro 7 on Apple¹s website, for $299. That gives you
the new EXS, plus a huge number of Logic plug-ins and soft-synths, plus a
huge library of EXS presets and Apple Loops, and the program works way
better than the earlier versions. You can find the details at Apple.com >
Software > Pro Applications > Logic Pro > Upgrade. I¹ll paste the upgrade
info below too.

Info from Apple - refers to upgrading from Logic 6 - if you are coming from
Logic 5, there are 7 or 8 new software instruments, not just 3:

Updates any existing Logic Gold/Platinum 5 or 6 or Logic Pro 6 user to Logic
Pro 7. The upgrade significantly expands Logic Pro abilities by offering 3
new software instruments, 10 new effect plug-ins, and Apple Loops Support.
XSKey will be immediately updatable via the internet when user first runs
new version.

I bought EXS24MkII separately from a vendor in Canada. I'm running
Gold 5.5.1 and it works fine.

once you get it, you have to file your registration number with the
site for registration and they will email you back a number. I had
literally bought mine 2 weeks after the support period ended, but
they validated my registration. Don't know if that's still the case,
but if you're interested the vendor still sells on ebay out of
canada.

His listings mention "warehouse" in them. I might be able to dig up
an invoice if you want to pursue it.

On a better note, I upgraded my EMU1820M to an EmulatorX and it
supports ALL Exs24 instruments. So I no longer am stuck with just
using Logic, but can move to anything that will support VST (i.e.
protools with vst2rtas or my Steinberg stuff, Samplitude, etc.) I
migrated Old Lady to EMU format and it's wonderful :-) and plays
nicely in ProTools.
