As said, what I find confusing is the fact that not even some dedicated drum samplers are dealing with the exclusive group function
properly.

Regarding the EXS, I allready got the feeling that it's not much but an addon to Logic - still a very efficient sampler with really
sweet sounding filters, but to keep up with modern samplers it'd need quite something else.
The aliasing is really horrible, even compared to Kontakt, which doesn't feature the most sophisticated audio engine either.
Patch management is nothing else but pathetic. Why would you have to save each and every patch first? That just doesn't make any
sense at all in case I load, say, a vocal track into it. I wouldn't need this patch for anything else but the current song. The same
goes for any setting made in the editor. It's just plain dumb by default (sorry, there's no other words for this) that we have to
re-save a patch, even if all we did was assigning some outputs. NO other sampler on the market requires any such a thing, all the
settings are saved fine with your hosts songfile (unless you're dealing with Gigasampler of course, but that's no plugin either).
And don't even get me started about the totally fucked up search function. It's just as lousy as it could get and the project
manager in all his slowness isn't of much help either.
Uh... and let's better forget about anything related to 3rd party format import...

All these points have been complained about the day the first beta came out (I don't think this is violating the NDA I signed back
then) and they are still valid. The only possible conclusion coming to mind would be that nobody really cares about it any longer -
at least not enough to add anything but a few small functions, whereas the EXS deserved a redesign from scratch.

As said, I still like the EXS' low CPU overhead, the filters and the easy to get through GUI, and once you got your patches done
it's sort of a pleasure to deal with it (which is true for any Logic plugin, at least regarding the GUI), but apart from the (very
nice) automapping feature, dealing with the EXS is nothing else but a nightmare regarding any actual sampling job.

I have followed this thread for while and I couldn't agree more, it's time for the mrk III version where all the quirks are gone. I also wish it would be possible to select all the layers under a certain key, like C1, by pressing C1. It's a drag copying anything at the moment though the rubberbanding is an improvement it's not really enough. Especially when trying to group things it would be so much faster just to press the right key and set them all to the same group.
Maybe it is possible and I haven't found out yet or maybe it's like the mute groups, just something that was forgotten in the making.
