Finding where a used sample resides?

Finding where a used sample resides?

2001-07-05 by roman pirie

Hello everyone,
If I have a sample used in a sampler instrument how can I quickly see where
it actually is.

What I have been doing is copying or preferably moving drum samples to the
same folder as each instrument file. This has basically meant that my sample
library is organised within the sampler instruments folder. Which is an
alias to my audio hard drive.

My folder system is something like this:
Drums
Single shots, Drumloops
Reggae Drums, Hip hop drums, House drums
Hihats, Kicks, Snares etc (for each Genre)

This means all my drum samples can be moved to the sampler instrument folder
once a sampler instrument has been created. Moving the samples as they get
used by each instrument means that the old sample library (files and
folders) is getting converted to a logical EXS sampler instrument library.

TIP: When moving your audio files name the folder that the samples will be
stored in the same as the instrument but with an f at the end (so that it
can reside in the same folder) then all samples for each instrument are
neatly stored in a folder named after that instrument and if you leave the
instrument file in the folder above that one you won't get double names in
the heirarchical EXS flip menu.

I hope this makes sense.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
