[EXS Anyone using White Grand?

[EXS Anyone using White Grand?

2006-05-10 by james page

I bought this piano and can't use it. Anytime i play a
note
staccato, after it has faded away completely, I get a
single click. I've been in touch with Worra and he
blames EXS and has given up on me. He is sending me
new disks but i can't imagine that will help. Since I
used EXS Manager to link the files, I tried Andrea at
Redmatica but never heard back from him.
So is anyone using this piano Successfully on EXS?
Thanks, JP

Hello James,
actually we are waiting for you to send also one of the samples so
that we can test it here...
Did you receive my email?

Best Regards

Hi JP.

I haven't given up on you...:)
I tried the same exs file as you have, using the midifile you sent me,
and it worked perfectly without clicks, as you could hear on the mp3
file I sent you with the result of the test.
The next step is to try with the disc I sent you. I'll contact Andrea
too!
So, I'm not giving up!

Best,
Worra

James,
I replied to you privately, but seems like you don't receive/see my
emails.
Can you please check your spam/junk folder? Maybe they went there.
As alternative, please contact me using another email address.

Xfade samples during note?

2008-04-15 by Paul Heitsch

I'm trying to do something with an existing patch, and I'm not finding it in
the manual anywhere -

I have a patch with 4 groups for each note, with dynamics that go from mp to
f to ff to fff.

I'd like to be able to crossfade between the groups *during* a single note,
using the mod wheel, to simulate a swell. Is this possible?

TIA for any pointers.

Nope. =(

There is only one "Select Range" destination available, so only one
source can take it. You have Velocity taking it. (See the modulation
matrix, Vel->Sample Select. "Sample Select" refers to Select Range"
in the Groups or Zones.)

To have a MW XFade, you'd have to have the MW address the "Select
Range" parameter.

Now, IF you had just one velocity, then here's how you would do it.

Take 4 Groups that set Select Range as follows:

0-0, 42-42, 84-84, 127-127

Then set XFade in the front panel (it's a global parameter) to
"+-42", and set a Modulation to Ctl 1, Dest as Sample Select, and
amount to 100%. There's you XFade.

Looking backwards, you can see that there's no room for velocity
splits now, since the MW took that over.

That's probably my #1 or #2 shortcoming, and the most silly
limitation, of the EXS24.

Garth -

This actually works exactly the way I want it to. The way the patch worked
originally was that every zone had all four groups assigned, and every note
event regardless of velocity triggered all four groups for every zone
(the ³Select Range² box is unchecked in every zone). Setting it up the way
you described now allows me to affect precisely the crossfade I was going
for.

THANK YOU ! !

Just out of interest, how did you make one Zone be part of 4
different Groups? A Zone just has one Group Assignment parameter.

Garth -

Sorry for the confusion lack of experience with the EXS editor showing.

Each *note* has four zones assigned to it, and each zone is assigned to one
of four groups.

So you got the ModWheel XFade working, but you
had mentioned earlier that your Zones were
already grouped according to velocity, which you
had 4 velocity splits. Did you notice that you
couldn't combine the two - Vel splits and MW
xfade? Or did you just substitute the Vel for Modwheel xfade?

I'm asking just to be sure there wasn't any other way to do this.

Substituted. Velocity is still controlling volume for all four groups, so
controlling timbre with the mod wheel is an acceptable trade-off.

Thanks, again.

OK, just crossing my fingers in case someone figured out some clever
way of bypassing this.

Nope, so far no one's cleverer than you.
