I've successfully converted a few AKAI format CDs - the EXS appears to do an excellent job. I have one problem, however, and have scoured the specs of any AKAI conversion utilities I can find to no avail: On converting Talvin Singh's Abracatabla CD, only the sample files and programs are converted - none of the Akai format MIDI files, which can be seen and read on my S2000, are converted successfully - they just appear as non-functioning exs instrument files. Can anyone help? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick Loe Web Developer / Music Producer SAS, 6 Salem Road, London W2 4BU T: +44 (0)20 7243 3232 F: +44 (0)20 7243 3216 E: nloe@... ------------------------------------------------------------------- Explore a dynamic approach to corporate communications http://www.ericsson.com/annual_report/2000/eng/index_fl.shtml Send us a message via the studio LED http://www.sasdesign.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------- e-mail warning: the information in this e-mail and any attachment(s) is confidential and is intended to be read only by those persons to whom it is addressed. I don't know if you can get there from here. I think maybe MESA is your only solution. Here's an overview. There is the Akai S-100 and S-3000 format, which is proprietary. In other words, it cannot be seen natively by a Mac or PC. This CD apparently has songs and q-lists stored on the disk in S-1/3 format. Any of the programs (EXS, Unity, some others) that can see and read off Akai S-1/3 formatted CD's just look at programs and samples, since their point is to load these. We are working on Translator Mac, and your suggestion is well taken, and we'll try to implement a way to take these off CD and make a SMF file out of them. But in the meantime, I think MESA could possibly do this? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | Garth Hjelte | | Customer Service Representative, President | | Chicken Systems, Inc, Rubber Chicken Software Co. | | 714 5th Street SE | | Willmar, MN 56201 USA | | | | 800-8-PRO-EPS Toll Free Order Line (US Only) | | 320-235-9798 Tech Support, Sampler Questions | | International Line | | 360-838-7689 Fax | | Product Sales: sales@... | | Product Support: support@... | | Sampler Q+A: qa@... | | Web Page: www.chickensys.com | * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Remember you can also convert SoundFonts using the EXS24 so check this link out: http://www.musicware.dial.pipex.com/SoundFonts.htm Or doing a search in http://www.google.com/ for 'SoundFonts to download' or similar. This came back with numerous links when I tried. Nick
