Hi All, How do I go about mapping velocity to effect filter settings (like cutoff or resonance, or both!) Is this doable from the EXS interface directly, or is environment processing necessary? -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com

Yes, this is doable. See the manual. I don't mean to sound snide, but this is a basic function that unfortunately is tricky to explain, since I don't have the EXS open in front of me. I figured it out without using the manual at all. Mess around with the interface if you don't have access to the English manual. You'll get it with a little experimentation.

look for the filter envelope, right under the filter knobs. there you can
see the attack slider has two handles (triangles). you can keep them
together or separate them, the latter creates a difference in response to
velocity. choose your amount of key response. Then, if you life, further
adjust the volume response via velocity in the upper right area of the EXS.
hope this is of any use to you

I'm still struggling to get my head around all of this though. I found something that helped in the manual. Apparently in the control view there is an extra parameter called "Filter via Vel". The manual says: "Determines the amount of cutoff modulation by velocity. The received velocity values are added to the current cutoff value". This actually does what I want. If I set the cutoff fairly low , then adjust this paramet up about half way, I can get good control from velocity sensitivity. I find this more straight forward than trying to get my head around setting ADSR envelopes and remote controlling them from other parameters. -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com
