How many patches does EXS have?

Are they easy to access with LASM?

Is this similar to Roland Virtual Sound Canvas?

as many as you can cram in there! its a sampler, so its all about 
spending ever more amounts of cash on sample cd's to fill it up 
with. the basic software comes with an amount of sounds from 
emagic, but theyre mostly fairly pedestrian in nature

pretty straighforward. you get a list of all the sounds converted 
from the various sample cd's youve chosen and off ya go..

chalk and cheese. the sound canvas is a cheap and cheerful 
soft synth module, probably fine for sketching out ideas with. the 
exs is a pro application capable of the highest fidelity.

EXS24 should be compared to other sampler products like Akai's and 
Yamaha's hardware samplers or Cubase's Halion software sampler or the 
very interesing looking new KONTAKT software sampler from Native 
Instruments. When you buy the EXS you get a library of patches with 
the product but the fun starts when you create your own patches. I do 
not know how many patches I have but it must be hundreds 'cause I 
converted quite a few AKAI sample CD's and soundfonts.

The Roland VSC is a general midi sound module. You can't use samples 
or sample yourself. 

Two very diffent beasts, actually.
