Is anyone doing this successfully? I've got quite a collection of CD's for my ASR10 that I'd like to use in the EXS24. What issues is the with this conversion? Thanks for the help. Lance Lasky Miracle Creations

The EXS parameters are not as deep a level as the parameters in the Ensoniq. In other words, the filter envelopes, the LFO parameters, and others, are on the Instrument level in EXS, whereas on the Ensoniq, you can set these aprameters for every wave, if desired. 2. The Ensoniq usually adds some of it's built-in effects on some sounds, and of course these don't carry over. 3. Ensoniq sounds are usually well programmed and have deep usability. It's not easy to get this all across. 4. Ensoniq envelopes are 5 stage; the EXS only has ADSR's. Other than that, they work quite well. Garth Hjelte Sampler User

I've done a great deal of this kind of conversion. I highly recommend Translator by Rubber Chicken (http://www.chickensys.com/). They do a very through job in converting the ASR elements and have been working with Ensoniq samplers for years. -Jer

I wonder - How does translator treats EPS/ASR bi-directional loops? does it automatically turn them into regular loops, or does it add the backwards loop portion to the actual wave data? and what about loop+release? I really miss these two features in the EXS :( At 09:49 10/02/02 +0000, you wrote:

Both. =) This is featured in Roland and Kurzweil translations too, as they implement bi-directional and related different looping schemes. >and what about loop+release? Nada; no way to simulate this in the EXS (HALion can, though). No big - hardly implemented. Garth Hjelte Sampler User

1. The EXS parameters are not as deep a level as the parameters in the
Ensoniq. In other words, the filter envelopes, the LFO parameters, and
others, are on the Instrument level in EXS, whereas on the Ensoniq, you

2. The Ensoniq usually adds some of it's built-in effects on some sounds,
and of course these don't carry over.
3. Ensoniq sounds are usually well programmed and have deep usability.
It's
not easy to get this all across.
4. Ensoniq envelopes are 5 stage; the EXS only has ADSR's.
Other than that, they work quite well.
