Akaipro 256meg piano

Akaipro 256meg piano

2002-02-13 by thetourists2000

I've downloaded all the material from all volumes at ftp:akaipro
and converted to exs24 using CDXtract. Everything works well, except
for the 256meg piano. The samples sound fine on their own, but only a
few in the lower register are working with the the EXS. I tried
James .exs data as well but I had the same results. Any suggestions?

Hiya,

Not sure...
They work for me perfectly except for about 1 octave that has some
wierd release values... staccato notes are held and such.

Easily fixed, but the rest is working fine.

Luckily the EXS is now streaming. :-) That Piano is a bitch on memory.

Overall I am a little underwhelmed by the Akai sounds I have to say.
Maybe it is just me, but I think they are a little dated.
Plugins fix it up a bit but.... hmmm...

The Dark Classical Piano in my QSR is a better piano imho.

Just being picky...

I don´t know if this is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth
but a simple way of making the piano work!

Instrument name: A.pf 256M
Go in to Edit.
Change the parameters of Group 11- 17
Set "ADRS offset" to: -172 ms (The same setting all the other Groups have!)
Hope this works for you.
I think maybe it´s CDXtract that missed that.

There a quite a few issues with CDXtract and these Akai files (no hi-
hat mute groups, hanging notes on the pianos, other ADSR envolopes
gone weird, wrong samples getting copied and incorrect note
assignements come to mind). It's nothing major that can't be sorted
by a bit of tweaking - just annoyoing! Thank goodness it get's the
loop points and zones correct!. I've emailed the author so
hopefully these issues will be addressed in time.

It was me that originally posted the link to the Akai samples over a
week ago - since then I have been quietly converting and editing all
the exs instruments. It's a bl**dy time consuming task but I think
the results are worth the effort. I do intend to share my edited
and corrected instruments soon! Hopefully by the weekend. I only
have one more Volume to sort out!

Regards

Gordon

I'm going to do Tranlator translations once I get all these AKAI files.
It'll be a long while before I get to all of them, but when I do, I'll post
those EXS instruments. Then we can compare them to CDXtract & EXS24
conversions.

Garth, if you have any pointers on the conversion settings, let me know.
And, of course, I'll download the latest update before attempting this.

And I'll post them on my site as well, with your permission of
course...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
