I think that originally the VSM functionality was reserved for 5.0 ugraders
only (the fact that it was only available through the webinstall at first
might prove that), but now they just couldn't get away with that (because
*some* persons complained big time about it ;-) and they also apparently
couldn't limit the useage of the DLL to 5.x.
Btw, for me this thing works way way WAY better than let's say HALions
streaming. Even with HALion 1.1 I still experience quite some crackles when
using large samples in streaming mode. With the VSM thing this is no deal at
all.

Yes, I see what you mean.

What did you do to get it to work? I placed the .dll in the same folder as
Logic, but since I've got 4.8.1 the 'General settings' referred to in the
Readme don't exist. From where should I activate the thing?

Actually, I don't know whether it worked for me or ;-)? I mean, I could load
the 256 mega Akai piano into my 256 megs computer, but I heard quite a lot
of crackling. How do I know it's doing its (e)magic?

Btw, from some reason lower registry sounds of the piano sent the
performance meter through the roof with not-so-nice distortion accompanying
it. Higher notes did not cause this behaviour. Hmm, my understanding of
physics stopped long before this phenomenon ;-).

Oho, seems we're having to do with some kinda HOAX here... as you might know
or might've guessed, I'm allready using 5.0 and of course the VSM thing
works in there. Maybe under 4.8 this only works on Macs?
Usually it should be acessable from the EXS's "Option" button, but well, as
said, if it's not there, it's not there...

hi,

you have to place it in the windows/system folder. you can read this
at the download page.

OK, will try. according to the readme it was supposed to go into the same
folder as Logic...

Doesn't help over here.
With 5.0 it's fine if you place it in the Logic folder only.
