I'd like to warn you about Itunes.
Although it is a very useful application, the mp3 encoding is not useful
for professional work in my opinion.
My mixes sounds totally different in itunes.
Even converting at 320 kbps gives you a bassboost and it does something
weird with the stereo image.
For some reason it appears to "boost" up the amount of reverb if you A/B
test it with you master wave/aiff file.
At least, that's what I experience....
I'm going for Spark. (I know, it's not exactly free....)
*************

There is an option to Boost Bass&Treble :o) i'm pretty sure it is engage in
u'r case !!

Thanks for the warning. I have been using Soundjam v.2.5.1 verry happily,
until it "ran out". I downloaded iTunes but haven't installed it yet. I'll
proceed with due caution, and check for any default bass/treble boosts, rogue
extensions, etc.

Sorry to get a bit OT, on Windows you can. The best MP3 codec around seems
to be "Lame", even better (and WAY) faster than the "original" Fraunhofer
institute one.
Maybe there's something like that for Macs as well?

yes, turn off the sound enhancement in your preferences of
Itunes, then it will be completely flat., it is on by default, my
.mp3's were sounding very hissy......

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
