EXS24 in LAMP V5 - trouble loading instruments?

2002-03-03 by technodork_2000

Has anyone experienced any problems with Logic 5 and the
EXS24. Just upgraded from 4.8.1, and EXS is taking a
painstakingly long time to load.

I have transferred my EXS libraries to new machines in the past,
so I know initially the instruments have to be rescanned and
found etc., etc.

I started off with the EXS demo library that is built into the V5.0
upgrade. Worked fine. I then transferred in my 20-25gb library of
Sampler Instruments and EXsamples, just drug from old V4
folders into V5 folders. Reloaded EXS, now when I choose an
instrumen, nothing happens, there appears to be no searching
or processing of any kind, I waited for upwards of 5-10 minutes,
and nothing happened.

I ran another test, I emptied my V5 EXS instruments and
samples foldrers, and just left one folder say :"Distorted Reality"
in the folder, reloaded EXS worked fine, I then added another
folder of the EXS Factory Instruments, worked fine, then I
dropped the whole library in again, no go?

Are there any limitations on EXS24 initially in V5.0? It seems I
read in the manual that full REX2 support in EXS was not in
place until the official install of EXS happened(entering codes
into XSkey).

I also noticed a folder at the very top of my patch lists from the
pull down menu in EXS called "untitled". The submenus of this
"untitled" folder appear to have a carbon copy of my entire EXS
patch library. Does anyone know what this folder is for? I couldn't
seem to get rid of it? Does it anything to do with saving EXS
samples with your song?

Sorry if this all obvious, after several hours of tweaking, I am
clueless?
Thanks
