New Patch: Bass

New Patch: Bass

2002-02-24 by Sascha Franck

A Musicman Stingray bass (recorded, looped and patched by myself, for those
who care about disclaimers...).
Samples are a tiny bit noisy but I never noticed that in any mix at all.
Also the higher zones didn't loop that great - I could have compressed the
s*** out of them before looping but I didn't want to do that. Also, the
looppoints are in the decay and again, I never noticed them to be inaccurate
in any mix.
Originally planned to become a multisample thing (well, it has quite some
keyzones but no velocity layers), but I never managed to get some proper
sounding hard attacks out of that thing. Still, I like it way better than
for example the "Finger Bass" from the EXS addon CD and this bass is my
Autoload's one.
The filter by default is switched off, switching it on makes the thing pump
a little bit more. I usually only use some lowpass though, saves some CPU.

Regards,
Sascha

I just love a big.... strong....Bass! But seriously, nice patch, very
usable. Thanks, Jon

Yes, it does sound really great. For comparism, go to
digidesigns pronet site (www.digipronet.com), they don“t offer
sounds and multisamples for free, but I think the prices are O.K,
esp. if you are only looking for one paricular sound. There, you
can find a musicman multisample w/o velocity switches, too.

By the way, the finger bass really does not sound nice, but it
works f**** great in dance mixes, if you add drive (up to 1/2) and
lower the frequency to one third.
