I'd get the EVP88. You wont find better anywhere.

EXS only crackles when I load this sound. I tried to make a new
instrument from wav samples, but logic says that these wavs are
corrupted or have errors. It's same with SoundForge and Windows
Media Player. It seems that this rhodes works only with Mac users ?
Does anyone with PC have had success with Rougin Rhodes?

Nope same experience here.

Kind regards,

Seems they are "hidden" (read: renamed) SD2 files. Unfortunately I don't own
SoundForge, I think that would do a good conversion job, but WaveLab doesn't
and the little freebie SD2 converter I have (which usually is a godsend,
considering the fact that there's no other SD2 to Wave batch converter for
the PC platform) only puts out any halfway useable files in stereo format
with the left side still messed up and the notes tuned wrong. Meanwhile I
checked all options the thing offers to no avail.
Maybe some kind Macuser could just convert the files to "real" wavefiles and
post them somewhere?

Regards,
Sascha

WaveLab doesn't

Unfortunately Soundforge only convert samplecell PC files.

Nono, you can also convert SD2 files from any Mac and/or ProTools session,
I've done so in the past.
I don't remember the exact procedure anymore (had to do it on a friends
machine back then), but you have to open your files as "raw" data and check
some "Motorola/Big Endian" box in the following file dialog. From what I
remember knowing the samplerate and if its mono/stereo helps, but I'm not
too sure, maybe SF does that automatically.

Btw, for those interested, here's the little freeware converter tool for PC,
doing a nice job in converting SD2 to wave:
http://www.leipzig.primacom.net/guessi/data/inhalt/digiconv.htm
Usually this works way better than SF and Awave together - unfortunately I
wasn't able to get proper results with the Rougin samples though.

Regards,
Sascha

FWIW, I downloaded the EXS Rougin Rhodes samples (on Mac) and they are
unplayable here as well.

Off course you can, but you cannot convert SD2 "mac" files with
Soundforge. As I wrote, SF only convert SD2 "pc" files.

Re: [exs] Thinking of samples

I don´t know what happened to Stefans EXS page.
I have downloaded all his instruments long ago and to me they all work!
(I´m on Mac byt they should really work for PC too.)

Now I put my downloaded version of "Rougin Rhodes" from Stefans page at my
I-tools page:

http://homepage.mac.com/michaelkarlsson/.cv/michaelkarlsson/Public/RRhodes.z
ip-binhex.hqx
This one works for me anyhow.

One strange thing happened at apples page though:
The .zip file was automatically converted to binhex.hqx and became eaven
larger than the original file but I tried to download it and everything
worked just fine.
I hope this works!?
(Tell me Eli?)
