Sorry Phunk, It may not have been the answer/response you were looking for,
but it didn't seem at all rude from here. In fact, I think both responses
(from Sascha & Dave), went the extra mile (or 2.2 kms) to explain to you
*why* this is beyond the boundaries of where this list goes, rather than
giving a short, terse, response (if any at all) that could be quite rude
indeed.

Regards,

   Shane

Sorry, but all this is going a bit too far.
A) Your "friend @ Emagic" defenitely was and is NOT allowed to lend out a
copy of an EXS CD. He should've told you to NOT spread the word that he did
so though all over the world. I would even doubt that any "friend @ Emagic"
would lend anyone anything, because the first thing to happen when this
would get notified would be him to get fired instantly. You're defenitely
doing him no favour...
B) Apart from that, if you don't have a clue of what the EXS does, why don't
you just lend the manual as well? Or phone/mail your friend?

Honestly, usually I don't care about all these things, but a mailing list
such as this is no place to ask, if for whatever reasons you got no manual.
And sorry, all explanations about "friends lending out something" (which is
not legal at all) only smell funny to me.

Sorry if this answer sounds a bit rude to you - I don't mean it like that at
all. But I've just seen too many such things in the past.

Best,
Sascha

I'd ask your friend to lend you the manual too. However this sound VERY
implausoble. Sorry, but it does.

Its a sampler. Perhaps reading emagics sales blurb on their webpage would be
an intelligent thing to do if you're not sure?

Funny, I have a non-extensive knowledge and I worked it out before without
reading the manual. Its not too hard. Can your 'friend' to explain it to you
next time you see him/her?

Alternatively ask your local music shop to demo for you and answer your
questions?

By the way, nice track on your web page.

that was a pretty rude response. My friend won't be in until tomorrow, so I can't ask him...I have time to play with it today, so i was trying to get a head start and hopefully not seem like such a dumb-ass when I have to ask him how to use that darn thing. Thanks for your help.

Apologies if you found that rude. All of my suggestions were valid, even if
not immediate answers.

The only thing I said that was mildly rude was that I found what you said
hard to believe. This is because 99% of the people that post to the list
saying that sort of stuff have pirate copies. Thats just the way it is.

You say :
"main one is, what exactly does this thing do?!"
As I suggested, the emagic sales blurb explains this. If you cant make the
effort to find the basic information out yourself, why should anybody on the
list spend their own time to help you?

Also there is an full online manual for EXS24 freely and legally availiable
on the web that can be found using < 20s effort with no prior knowledge of
where it is. I'll leave it to you as an excercise to find it yourself.
