Nice one, Murray, thanks!
It's just that in some samples there are noticeable crackles this time.
Whenever I find the time I will sort those out and post some edited patches
(I allready had a hard time finding proper loop points for some samples...).

Cheers,
Sascha

Hi Sascha,

Most files have the loops printed to them by ZooLabMusic -- I inserted the
loops in only one or two.
It might be worth trying a few milliseconds of crossfade where there is a
click although if the sound changes in timbre or amplitude too much over
the course of the loop then a perfect loop is not easily found.

BTW -- is this list moderated now? My previous post took over an hour to
appear.

Regards,
Murray

Hm, this time there weren't so much loops included as in the other files...
and I'm really having a hard time finding proper points for some of them in
WaveLab (which usually is kickass for such things).

Unfortunately WaveLab only has destructive x-fades (which of course is
obvious), so I usually find myself fooling with WL to find the best
looppoints, then transferring things to the EXS to see if the (realtime)
x-fade feature helps.

Guess it still has to do with the Yahoo problems over the last two days.

Tip: Looping Samples for EXS24

2002-03-06 by Murray McDowall

Here's how I insert sample loops -- starting in the instrument editor and
calling up Logic's sample editor. Hope this is of some use to anyone
starting out building instruments for the EXS24.

Click on the E button on the "Loop" line in the Zone for the sample you
wish to loop -- this will open the sample in the sample editor.
Drag a rough loop zone with the file only zoomed to the point where you
can see the set of individual cycles that will form the loop.
Hit <Ctrl +> a few times to zoom right up till individual samples are visible.
Hold down the <Shift> key and you can drag the edges of the selection with
the mouse
Choose a zero crossing at one end of the loop and then using the arrow keys
( --> and <--) navigate to the ends of the selection to position the Loop
start and end points precisely.

There is still (LAWP 4.8.1) no key command for "selection --> loop" so you
still have to use the mouse to open the edit menu and choose this option.
You are finished in the Sample Editor.

Back in the Instrument Editor:
If the loop has a glitch despite sample accurate placement of the start and
finish points try the <Auto Crossfade> feature. A few milliseconds will
often do the trick -- perhaps more for lower frequency samples. ]

Yahoo started converting all of its Yahoo Clubs into Yahoo Groups on
Monday morning. Both seemed to be back online Tuesday, but only about
15% of the clubs I'm on had undergone the conversion, so things might
be slow for another week or two..
