Hi Bernard, > I don't find you in my customer base so I guess you are speaking > about a demo version which is limited to one partition only. Yes, that is true. I tried both the demo versions of Translator and CDXtract a few months ago when I was trying to decide between the two. I have not tried CDXtract since then so I don't know what improvements you have made to it. > The click problem usually comes from a not well known feature > of the Akai sampler, the loop points that are displayed on the > screen are not the loop points that are used to play the samples. > snip < Understood. However, the same samples that I got clicks on with CDXtract, I did *not* get those clicks on with Translator. That is what ended up making my mind up for me. > A big warning here, though it works with VPC 3 and 4, it doesn't seem > to work with VPC 5 because the disk insert events are not trapped > anymore by VPC 5 which means that you cannot read any proprietary > formated discs (Akai, Emu, Roland...) Thanks for the info. I don't particularly need it since I'm on a PC anyhow but this information is useful to Mac users. Anyway, I just want to add that I hope that my post did not make CDXtract to be a bad product. I do not believe that it is. Converting between different sampler formats is a huge job, especially given the fact that there are many special features only available on one sampler platform. I felt that Translator's conversions were just a bit better and matched the original (as best it could) better than CDXtract. That does not make CDXtract a bad product. It is miles ahead of exs-24 and, in fact, I prefer some of its interface features over Translator (and vice versa). In purchasing a conversion utility, I wanted the one that could get me there closer with less tweaking after conversion. There are times where I still tweak but that is mostly because I like to make some changes from the original Akai programming (I have mostly Akai CD's). Best regards and thank you for the input, Fernstudio
