Sorry, I can't make any specific CD suggestions personally, but check out:

http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/regular_htm/sospast.htm

At that link you can access the most recent 65 editions of the monthly
magazine Sound On Sound (going all the way back to Jan 1997). At the bottom
of most of the magazine index is a "Sample Shop" section, though it's not
included in the magazines from 1998 for some reason. It's in most of them
though. To access the most recent 6 editions of the magazine you have to pay
a small yearly fee, US$36, and you get access for an entire year. Quite a
good deal for the plethora of knowledge contained in their magazines.

The article below, in particular, is pretty good; it's a list of the sample
CDs the 3 sample cd reviewers for Sound On Sound would pick out if they were
stuck on a deserted island and they could only take a few sample CDs. Of
course this -is- from 5 years ago so there very well could be better sample
CDs out now. :-)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
