Translator mac offer?

2002-05-31 by the noise

you know how it goes, you wait for ages for Translator for mac to appear.

Chicken Sys do a great offer from their site $49 [wow!] you place an order,
[great I'll have it emailed to me within 48hours!!] and then... and then...
and then...

nothing.

ordered last friday.
had email acknowledgement [great!].
and bugger all since.

a word, don't order translator if your banking on using it for an urgent job
[like me].

if it takes a week to email translator then say that on your website chicken
sys! please!! don't treat your customers like donkeys.

they've p*****d me right off.

there got that off my chest.

have a good weekend everyone.

They work hard, and are aggressive programmers, but often overly optimistic
about their timelines. It'll be worth the wait, but I agree that it's an
inconvenience when you are banking on something. I generally add 3 days to a
week to any given time commitment. Sorry Garth, but I had to respond to this
one. I love what you do; however, this guy has a point. ;-)

This isn't the complete story. (I know this is somewhat off-topic, but it
nags (pardon the pun) me when something like this happens, as you'll see...)

First, his credit card declined - we had to take time out to contact him of
that. We also told him that we couldn't e-mail anything to a hotmail
account. He replied and said he'd put more $$ in and gave us another e-mail
address. This happened in effect for us on Tuesday (three days ago).

Last weekend was a 3-day weekend and we were swamped (lot's of orders) for
the rest of the week, and were unable to get back to him. We e-mailed his
copy late because we had to go back into the records and change the e-mail
address. Anytime you have to adjust things manually it can be problematic.
We would have liked to deal with the changes faster, and be real
responsive, but this wasn't a case where we could do it very easily.

But even so, the program was in effect 24 hours late - we apologize for that.

So don't believe everything people write - there's usually more to the story.

Chill Mr. Noise,
Sometimes I take 3 days to decide which scale to practise...
and we love Garth and his fellow chickens on this list AFAIK.

Hey garth, read your explaination in the mailshot and can sympathise - I've
had that sort of insane stuff happen to me working to deadlines too. Dont
sweat it! Nice to see the release at last... I guess everything will calm
down again for you guys in a week or two...

(and yes, translator mac has put a smile on my face this week - cant wait
for the rest of the conversions to make their way over...)

yes indeed, my credit card was refused and re-sorted for tuesday morning but
then I still didn't receive replies to my 2 emails for an update as late as
friday so that's what lead to me emailing the list.

please chicken sys chaps all it takes is communication to keep your
customers happy, we want to like you and your product!! just let us know
what's going on. even if we do get into tight corners with work, nothings
unforgivable! there's far more serious things in life to worry about than
software. ; )

anyway that's the end of this matter, upwards and onwards, I'm sure
translator for mac is going to be excellent!

keep up the good work garth and the rest of chicken sys.
