EMU and EXS24

EMU and EXS24

2001-01-24 by Mikael jöback

Hi

My goal is to make my studio as compact as possible
so naturaly I'm interested in EXS24, especially now within TDM

I'm currently using a EMU e-6400 (expanded) so my questions to you experts
are:

can I use my EMU sounds?
  - if not, can I convert them in any way, without any loss of quality

How is EXS24 compared to e-6400?

Is there EXS24 sound avaible on the market?
  - their quality?
  - type of sounds?
  - where can I get them?

Is there something important I should know about it?
  - computer memory? DSP power?
  - pros? cons?

Regards
mikael J.

Go to http://www.egroups.com/group/exs-users and review the list archives. A
lot has been said about conversion tools on this list already, and it's
worth sorting through. I think some list members abstain from comment
because they are out of breath, so to speak. I'm pretty impressed so far
with Translator http://www.chickensys.com/translator/ and have heard good
things about a few others from other list members. Good luck.

Unfortunately for some (me) Translator is only for Windows machines at this
time.

It runs on Virtual PC 4 and happily reads CD-Roms (via your regular computer
CD drive) and ZIP disks (via USB). The program is very light and will easily
run on even a slower-running Virtual PC.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
