EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

I have been running Emagic 4. 8.1 on a G4 PowerBook 400 Mhz - OS 9.2.1 (US)
768 Meg Ram with EMI 2|6 for the past nine months.
When opening Emagic
I get an error message of "ASIO:
Not enough memory (-108) - Continue".
Tracks appear to play, in the signal display in the arrange window, yet 
no sound from emi 2|6. Something is wrong
When I attempt to view the EXS labels in the instrument environment 
window they all have a cross across the blue EXS icon.
Clicking on them gives me a small instrument list or no effects window, 
instead of the big EXS controls green window

I have reinstalled EXS.
I have reinstalled emi 2|6
I have increased memory for EMagic.
I have switched the Driver both ways

During the session prior to this failure. I had been adjusting the 
tuning of EXS samples and saving the retunings as new instruments in the 
Sampler Instruments.

Any advice, ideas appreciated.

Is it the same with Mac AV ???

Yes same result with Mac Av. BTW the ASIO is ghosted.

Ghosted means that in the list of devices MAC, ASIO etc. ASIO appears in 
grey instead of black typeface.

Have you boosted the amount of dedicated RAM for the app file? GET INFO -->
MEMORY. You should set the range to something like 200000K - 250000K.

I case anyone else tries the copy this setting, the rule of thumb is 1/3 of
your available RAM for Logic, if you use a lot of VST plugins. Otherwise you
can dedicate less.

When anything goes wrong that I cant explain I try ;
 - Rebuilding the desktop
 - Zapping the PRAM
 - Nuking any app preferences (backing up forst of course)
 - Renaming the autoload and starting again with a vanilla track.

Worth a shot... Basically clean up as much as possible, but backing up as
far as possible...

you mean in the list of devices in logics audio preferences 
page? or in the opened asio page _within_ the audio prefs 
page? sounds like logic isn't "seeing" the asio file. have you 
checked there IS an actual asio file in logic's asio folder? maybe 
it's corrupted, or the install placed it somewhere else. strange 
it's been ok 'til now though. there's a new driver, is that the one 
you're using? i'd say it's extremely unlikely to have anything to do 
with the exs. of course having realised the kinds of torture you 
put yours through, who knows!

Not to state the obvious, but; are you sure you have the correct audio
engine enabled and active in the audio prefernces page. Because if it is
greyed out in the track list, it is most likely because it is not activated
in the audio prefernces.

I also have this problem from time to time, and I solve it by 
unplugging the EMI from my USB HUB and plugging it back in 
again. (ie. physically removing the EMI from my Mac.)

I also have this problem from time to time, and I solve it by

I have encountered the same problem with my emi 2/6, exactly as you 
describe it, but this annoying thing disappeared when I updated to 
the latest driver, and started using EASI.
