The update info says it saves the multiple output assignments of the
zones/groups with the .exs patch.. I'm not sure what exactly is preventing
you from only having to do this once for each kit? The update info doesn't
mention the possibility of naming the various outputs though, maybe that's
the problem?

Sure -- you can save the EXS24 instrument with a bunch of outputs assigned to
the groups eg Snare Group to outputs 3-4. But then you need to create an
Auxillary or three and in their input sections you need to select the output
3-4 of Instrument 3 or whatever. I suppose a couple of well setup autoloads
where your drums are already assigned to the right set of named auxillaries
would pretty well do the trick .

Are you aware of the fact that the EXS multiouts are assigned dynamically?
Not that this is directly related to your "problem", but I found that to be
a very good thing. So, if you don't need any additional outs you can just
keep the EXS stereo and everything will run through the main out, regardless
of how much individual routings you did in your patch.
Then, if you keep things consistent you will just know which sound is
running through which individual out.

Then, about the additional features you spotted at the Logic demo, I would
think these will be part of a bigger EXS update.

Sascha

Yeah I spotted that in the lainfo file.

Good idea -- you don't need to use duplicates in both forms (stereo/multi).

Yes -- some sort of template where you always put the snare in the first aux
and the kick in the second etc would achieve this.

Sounds nice -- do you think us PC guys will see this? If you can't say -- well
never mind -- we'll all know in time I s'pose ;-)

Sascha -- on another subject completely -- have you been using the four output
version of Pentagon 1 in Logic 5.2?
If so what sort of tricks can you do with the extra outs?

Murray

As said before, us testers have to sign some NDA, so you are right, if I
knew something I wouldn't be allowed to tell (and I am somewhat serious with
those NDAs). But in this case I can just assure you that I don't know
anything.
Just as you I am hoping for those features to be available in EXS/W as well.

Oh! Now that you remind me - never tried that! I wonder what it will offer
(if it's just multitimbrality I won't need it I guess).

Sascha
