[exs] Akai CD

[exs] Akai CD

2002-08-13 by eric_turner@waters.com

Hi - downloaded samples in Akai format from the FTP site and am trying to
import, but the EXS doesn't seem to find the samps on the CD - What is the
appropriate File structure to set up the disk? Currently, the CD I burnt
has several subdirectories eg. BLOW_BOTTLE, GRAND PIANO etc with the
samples under each sub, but the EXS just sits there with that "waiting for
Akai CD " message. Thanks

yes, interesting.
the import is for akai-format cds so if you downloaded single sounds and
burned them on a mac-cd the importer will not see them because it only looks
for akai disks.
i guess that the sounds you downloaded from akai-ftp are s5000/6000 format
and that is _as far as i know_ not supported by the exs anyhow.
i guess thats a call for translator chicken thinggie.

but it would be grat if the exs could import mesa/ak.sys format files
directly.

You can also download the corresponding exs-files from this website:
http://www.cone.nl/test/exs.htm
Follow the instructions on that page.

As stated in other messages, if you need to convert individual
program files from AKAI to EXS format, you should use an external
application like Translator.

I have been patiently waiting for the updated Mac Translator (mainly for the
K2000>EXS) , and hearing "tomorrow or today for sure" several times & for
over a month seeing the "currently available translations" vapor story. And
seeing some angry diatribes on-line. Did you hit the wall in some testing?
Cuz it sounds like you hit the bottle tonight:-)

LOL. I'm waiting for that too.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
