ESX File cleanup help

Freinds and I have been merging our sample libraries together and now Ive got a big mess and want to now re-organize. Im using mac and we dont have that esx manager software that pc users have. my library is on an external firewire drive.' My question is this can i get the PC to read mac formatted firewire drives if so then I can organize on my pc but.. then when i bring it back over to the mac will it still work? If anyone has done this I would apreciate the help Thanks Alex G
