Hi! I wonder if all of you encountered the same problem, with Logic and
Reason 2.0 not rewiring anymore in LAP 5.2? Does it work for anyone?
Rewire 2 is something to wish for, especially if Rewire 1 isn't even working
anymore...
BTW emagic said there would be a Problem with this, to be (hopefully) solved
with the next update.

800 DP Mac

Reason 2
Mac os 9,2.2
os x 10.1.5 (soon 10,2)

I have Reason working in 5.2, whether on Rewire 1 or 2, I don't
know, but its the first time I have been able to get Reason to work
in any Logic version.......

Wow! Too bad my RME Hammerfall DSP system doesn't hint at a completed driver
for OSX yet. Grrrrrrrr.

Had a play last night briefly before crashing out - *very* initial reaction
is good! I was annoyed at first as its Platinum only and I use Gold, however
on being stubborn and forcing it to have a play I discovered I can run it
using my XSKey under a 28day demo period for Platinum. Sweet! It really
*does* look the same so far bar obvious aqua window styles etc. My Audiowerk
isnt supported, but using builtin audio I was pleasently surprised at
performance, sound quality and the fact that audio instruments worked -
Albeit that the insert flip menu is where the instrument selection used to be

(??). The system seems a little snappier than on 9 (QE effect?) and I have a
suspicion that the dual CPU's are better utilised, but then I need to run
some more tracks to get a better handle on it. As for midi, I just ran the
installer for my Midisport driver (v3 beta) and it just started working. No
rebooting. No OMS. Just working. Now theres a revelation! I think I may pick
up a Delta this week to try with however as Id quite like some better audio
to test with.

I'm planning on spending some Quality Time with it this evening to see how
well it runs - I'll drop in a more detailed (maybe even interesting?!) report

after if theres anything much to say about it.
Jay - looks like our 'safe' December release guess was a little too
pessimistic - Thatll teach me to be such a miserable old git!

I have a question in this regard. My understanding is that Reason and Logic
are both now available on OS X. Does anyone know if it is possible to
synchronize apps in OS X in the same way that Rewire does? I thought that
one of the feature of OS X was that your could send Audio and MIDI freely
from one app to another.

I was planning on using Logic, Reason, and Sibelius under OS X and to send
MIDI and audio around between these various programs.

Logic 5.3 in MacOSX

2002-09-02 by HELP@MusicBootCamp.com

Emagic is dropping VST support in its OSX development (drama city here we
come):

Because of these and other advantages in comparison to current 3rd party
native DSP plug-in formats, Emagic has decided to focus on Audio Units
exclusively. The decision to only support Audio Units was not taken lightly;
we listened to both developers and users before making this decision and are
convinced that Audio Units represents the optimal path forward for plug-in
development. We understand, of course, that some users may initially be
concerned that they will no longer be able to use their favorite 3rd party
plug-ins in Logic under OS X. However, upon closer examination, the facts
are that all plug-ins available under Mac OS 9 must be adapted
("carbonized") to function under OS X at all, and that this task has been
carried out for only a relatively small fraction (we optimistically estimate
between 5 - 10%) of the available 3rd party plug-ins. This means that the
Macintosh audio community now has a unique opportunity to standardize on a
cutting-edge system-level format built into the OS, rather than dilute its
development efforts by continuing to support a disparate and often poorly
documented range of "standards".

Hi Paul,

Sorry I can't help you, but please keep us posted regarding the success of
your endeavour. I know there's more than a few people on this list who are
dying to use Reason + Logic in X-land.

or you can just hire an internet savvy guitarist like me. I do sessions
through the net all the time with people all over the world. They send me an
mp3 of their song, sometimes with an example sampled gtr or keyboard gtr. I
play what they ask with no attitude or argument. I upload my final file to
their ftp or iDisk and they make comments. I fix my part to their specs and
they send me a check in the mail. Pretty easy and I do it cheap since I
don't have to leave my house. It is not as fun as a one on one session, but
it can be just as collaborative.

I'm doing that pretty often too. Unfortunately still no DSL here (should
finally arrive in 2 weeks), so uploading takes a bit, but who cares.
