How to use a .gig file with a long name
2002-09-12 by Jon Esler
If your like me you need stuff spelled out for you pretty clearly.
There are some great samples around the net originally written for
Gigasampler which EXS users are now able to use; here is how you do it on a
Mac.
If the file name ends with .gig just place it in the Sampler Instruments
folder and it will immediately be recognized by the EXS the next time you
start up Logic. Load it and the EXS will automatically convert it to an
.exs file. Now go back and trash the .gig file since it is no longer
necessary.
If the file name does not end with .gig it probably has a name that is
to long for Logic to recognize. Go here for some cool samples.
http://62.13.11.115/gtown/ Download G-Town Church Fake Glass Harmonica.
Once you download the file it will have the file name
G-Town_Church_Fake_Glass_Harmon. Rename the file something like Fake Glass
Harmonica.gig. now place it in the Sampler Instruments folder and it should
work as described before.
Of course this is only for Mac users, if your on a PC all I can say is
get a Mac..... Just kidding. Jon
