Burning AKAI format discs on a Mac

Burning AKAI format discs on a Mac

2002-09-12 by Ruben

Hi
I use a Mac (dual800 1gig ram, macos 9.22) with LAMP 4.81 and EXS24, and I
gotta go to another studio that uses a PC with Giga, and need to take some
instruments to use there.
I got some in akai format I downloaded from the web, (from Cone's AKAI
links), from those original AKAI SOUND LIBRARIES, but Giga seems to only be
able to see (and convert) from an AKAI format CD, not from a regular PC CD.
So, how can I burn the files I have, into an AKAI formatted CD, from my Mac
(I got Toast Titanium)?

I read somewhere that if I have the Mac and my Akai sampler in the same SCSI
chain, I could use SCSI copy from TOAST, but my Mac doesn't have SCSI!! :(
There _MUST_ be a better way, just some quick way to burn a CDR in AKAI
format, or another way for GIGA to _SEE_ these Akai files!

Thanks

Ruben

You are probably talking about S5000/6000 files, Giga can only read
S1000/3000 CD-Roms, You can convert these Akai files to the Giga
format using CDXtract on your Mac or on your PC.

I got CD Xtract, which only "SEES" s5000/6000 files.
But the files I got aren't 5000/6000, they are s1000/3000 format.
No way I seem to be able to make them into Giga files, even
using cdxtract.
Since I got them from Cone's site, he has EXS24 files for the
programs there, and I converted (using cdxtract) _these_ to gig
format- I'll try later and let you guys know how it went!

thanks anyway

Ruben

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
