Check out:

There's a link to the AKAI site where in Volume 1 there is quite a good
music box sample set.

Cheers,

Luke.

General Samples

2002-10-26 by Jeff Zacharias

I'm a new user to Logic 5 on Mac OS X and ESX24. I currently have no
samples. I would like to be able to use Logic and the ESX24 alone
without an external synthesizer. I see lots of sample CD's specific to
one type of sound but not CDs with a lot of different sounds. Can
anyone recommend a sample CD or set of CD that will give me the
equivalent of an external synth ? I'd like a full compliment of sounds
including a GM bank.

Why not go for Emagic's ES2? It's much better suited for the roll of synth
because it is one. The EXS24 is a good workhorse sampler, but if you want
really strong synth functions, I'd go for another product. That's not to say
there aren't any good synth sounds for EXS24; there are. But you'll get much
more mileage out of the ES2, which is, in my humble opinion, a phenomenal
synth. -Jer

I meant "role of synth..."

if you have no sounds so far other then the exs24 sounds. go here. get
uncompressed. make sure they all have .sf2 extension when you put in sampler
instruments folder. I just named a new folder "soundfonts" and put it in
there. Some sounds are so so , some are pretty darn good, They are free.
Exs24 will convert them on the fly.
Enjoy.

P.S. If you just purchased exs 24, you should be getting a 2nd cd
from logic with more "factory sounds"
call 'em if you haven't received yet.

I had to make one of these sound sets once for an ad job. It was a while ago
and I would have it on backup somewhere. I think I even had the sound
(adjustable) of the braking fan and the motor noise in there also.
I'll see if I can dig it out.
Cheers
