New free Accordion instrument for EXS24

New free Accordion instrument for EXS24

2002-11-13 by A. Elverhøy/Revolver Music A/S

Hi gang!

A couple of years ago I recorded about 3 octaves from an accordion I'd
used for a session.
It's a Dari Italian accordion. Bassoon and piccolo registration. Since it's
a two voice registration you can hear that the tones have a slight different
tuning on each note. This makes it sound quite realistic.
It's quite large; 17.5 megs. Every note is sampled.
(Would love to hear your opinion)

[exs] Sound wishlist

2002-11-17 by elverhoy

If there was more of us making EXS instruments on this list we could set up a
simple webpage where people wished for certain types of instruments.
But again that would require more than just 4-5 guys...

That's very appealing. Now if we could start an income wish list where
people could develop free sources of income, so I could capture the precious
time needed to develop new EXS kits. I'M KIDDING! Really, I'd love to help
with this, but can't afford the downtime. Be glad to suck those freebies
down when there ready though (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). ;-) Jer

Well, I agree...
Bad idea, why should anyone want to use time on that...;-)

Nice idea - but there's some legal problems IMO.
I'd gladly share some more instruments and/or recycled loops that I made by
myself, using *free* samples from the web. But then, the *free* part is
where the problems come in. I suspect a lot of them to be not exactly free
ones (especially a lot of the free soundfonts you can get like anywhere).
Just putting together the EXS patch and pointing people to the used samples
often doesn't work either as I a) often destructively manipulate the samples
to fit better and b) don't even remember where a lot of them were from (5
years of loading samples from the web generates quite a huge amount of stuff
all over the place...).
So, in the end the only method of doing such a thing is generating your own
samples. Personally, I don't have such an option too often - apart from
sampling VSTis, generating other blurbs and noises with whatever
soundgenerators and eventually sampling some guitars.
I had planned to sample some drums and even some horns by myself, but as the
studio of my former university is currently unavailable (I could've recorded
there for free) I don't know how long it'll take.

Regards,
Sascha

Well...that was the whole idea actually.
I have have no intention or want to use "free" soundfonts or samples.
The cool part is to make'm from scratch.

That sounds pretty cool to me....:-):-).
You've already created some pretty cool ones imo.

The timeframe isn't that important as long as there are enough people
participating.
But one could imagine a deal where the ones that _can_ record something
does that, and somebody else creates the actual EXS instrument.

Cheers

Unfortunately, I think your right.
It would be impossible to trust everyone on a list like this.
The idea won't work.
