Funny; in my experience the EXS has always demanded my attention and forced me to make a selection when faced with duplicate samples. I wonder what the criteria is based on when deciding when to prompt the user or to choose the first one on it's own?

Duplicate samples give you a dialog indeed. But this was about
duplicate instrument names -- a different animal...

That's right... and it seems incredible that an instrument with the
scope and potential of the EXS should have a problem with such a
basic thing; I mean, how many "bass" instruments could one of us have
on the hard disk at one time, especially if we're constructing
instruments specifically for one song?

Now really sweating about what those Akai Japan instruments were
called (have already found a couple of "marimba"s!),

My experience is that there are tons of duplicate samples in the AKAI
library. And much of what is on the Japan site is in other kits by AKAI as
well.

PS: I do know we were talking about instruments. Sorry if I confused the
issue.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
