EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

Hi, just received the EXS24 and am puzzled about the Akai conversion:

1. Can EXS-24 convert Akai S5000/6000 programs (PC)? How?
2. Can EXS-24 convert Akai S1000/2000 formats from the computers hard 
disk (not CD)?

Found nothing about this in the manual. "Undocumented feature"? :)

Hi, my exs has a lot of problem on tuning. Unexpectedly, all the samples
play out of tune.
 Anybody knows this kind of problem?

NO!

I own CDXtract, and there are currently too many missing parameters 
and bugs in the S56k -> EXS24 conversion (3.4 and latest 3.5 beta) to 
make it useful. Before I list them I should say that Bernard is hard 
at work fixing them, so perhaps by the time you read this the 
following won't be a problem any more.

I did the following:
1. Converted from AkaiCD to EXS using the EXS24 built-in converter.
2. Converted from AkaiCD to S56k using CDXtract, then again using 
CDXtract to go from S56k to EXS24.

Current bugs: Panning is incorrect (-50<=50, should be -100<=100), 
sample paths are incorrecty specified. Filter and amplitude envelopes 
differ a lot from the EXS24 conversion.
Missing features: Lots. LFO parameters are either incorrect or 
missing, modulation sources are incorrect.. etc...

This is no critique against CDXtract. I use it just for the S1000 -> 
S56k conversion which works perfectly, so I'm really very satisfied 
with CDXtract !

Use CDXtract for this too (unless you want EXS24 output :)...

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I recently got in contact with Bernard 
(again), and he told me that the S5000 export is broken (re: the 
filter and LFO settings). It was this that affected the EXS24 export 
in my roundtrip experiment.

This problem, together with the other EXS24 export problems will be 
solved in CDXtract 3.5 final, which according to Bernard will be 
released in one or two weeks.
