Garritan Orchestra Strings already works something like this with Giga. It
switches alternating up and down bow samples on several of their instruments for
very increased realism. (every other note played is switched between up and down
samples.)

And you also have the 'standard' keyswitching within Garritan. VSL does the same
thing, plus maybe a couple of extra goodies?

Have you tried Garritan as an EXS import? Do any of the advanced tools work?

Hi Sean,

Nope, haven't tried to import any of the Garritan into EXS yet. But, this
'alternate' bowing technique is made to work with Giga with the help of a third
party freebie.

I heard a while back (then again, I don't remember where I heard this from) that
Garritan _may be_ looking into bringing the Orchestra Strings into EXS.
Officially on their site, they mentioned of using Chicken System's Translator
method of bringing it into EXS and of 'other' formats coming soon...

I'm a Logic Audio PC user who is looking for 'other' alternatives at present...

Oops,

And I did leave out an important part here:

There is an environment add-on that comes with the Garritan package that does
allow it do to many extras inside Logic including what I had mentioned above.

I just don't know (haven't used it) if it does all this using the EXS rather
than Giga.

Thankyou Colin - it helped heaps! :-)

Every interval up to an octave up or down??!! Wow - sounds like VSL *is*
the one to save up for if realism's an issue (which it most likely is if
yr bothering to use a big orchestral library).
